Pre-Kindy Room
2.5 years - 3.5 years
Our pre-kindy room caters for children aged between 15 months - 3 years. We have two to three staff (a Lead Educator and 1 or 2 Assistant Educators) with a maximum group size of 16 children at any one time. One of the main aims of the Pre-Kindy room is to develop children’s self-help skills along with emotional and cognitive skills.
The pre-Kindy room provides a child-based program and curriculum based on the Early Years Learning Framework. Interests of the children are observed by staff and then facilitated through hands on learning experiences, group and individual activities. In this age group, a major focus is on toileting and learning to work and share as part of a group.
Daily Room Routine
- 6.30am - Centre Opens
- 6.30am – 9.00am – Combined with Toddlers & Nursery (Inside/Outside play)
- 9.00-9.15am – Transition, Wash Hands – Prepare for Morning Tea
- 9:15- 9.30am Morning tea
- 9:30 - 10:30 Indoor Activities (program)
- 10:30 – 11:00 Group Experiences (Language, Music & Movement)
- 11.00 – 11.15 Transition children to bathroom to wash hands
- 11.15 -12.00 Lunch Time (Educators sit with children whilst they are eating)
- 12.15 - 2:00 Rest/sleep time
- 2:00 - 2:30 (Nappy Changes / toileting / washing hands & faces) before rest time
- (As children wake, nappies/toileting/shoes)
- 2:30 - Hats/sunscreen applied
- 2.45 - Afternoon tea
- 3:00 – 4.15 outside play
- 4.15-4.30pm Packing up Outside yard
- 4.30 – 4.45pm Afternoon snack.
- 5.00 - 6.00pm Indoor/Outdoor play
- 6.00pm Centre Closes
